Lauren Cunningham, born and raised in Durban, moved to Johannesburg to study advertising. She studied her Integrated Marketing Management qualification through the AAA School of Advertising. Lauren started her working career in advertising and enjoyed it immensely. However, the travel bug bit and she joined MSC Cruise Lines in the entertainment department where she managed and led over 30 staff per sailing/cruise season. She traveled the oceans for five years, particularly Europe and lived in beautiful Italy for a short time.

Lauren – ever the South African patriot finally decided to return to her home, Durban. From travel to recruitment was a natural progression, as customer service and people management are two of Lauren’s particular gifts. Through networking Lauren met Michelle Dempster and it became clear that combining their skills the dynamic duo would have great success in building their own recruitment consultancy.

Michelle Dempster is a qualified Human Resource and Business Management Specialist. She has worked in the corporate world in a variety of industries in the human resource departments both as a full time employee and as a consultant. During this time she gained critical knowledge and experience in the identification of talent for specific industries. She has a natural ability to see the gift that each person has and to convey this insight to the individual and to others in order for a person’s talents to shine through, whether it be within the You Choose Recruit team or when sourcing candidates for her clients for correct job/industry fit.
